Flight from Pain

As I lie upon my bed,
I release my mind to travel the world instead.
From horizon to horizon my thoughts travel free
Rather than focus on the pain in my knee.

I close my eyes and imagine a breeze,
A cool wind dancing across the seas.
I'm engulfed in joy upon a boat's deck.
This sure beats thinking of the pain in my neck.

Other times I soar high in the sky
Free as a bird that just learned to fly.
I loop and dive and glide on the air
Free from the pain, without any care.
I look to a sunset and then look below,
So much better than thoughts of
the pain in my toe.
